∧ Then ∧ Call to Arms by Rachel Amphlett
Loyalty has a price.
Kay Hunter has survived a vicious attack at the hands of one of the country’s most evil serial killers.
Returning to work after an enforced absence to recover, she discovers she wasn’t the only victim of that investigation.
DI Devon Sharp remains suspended from duties, and the team is in turmoil.
Determined to prove herself once more and clear his name, Kay undertakes to solve a cold case that links Sharp to his accuser.
But, as she gets closer to the truth, she realises her enquiries could do more harm than good.
Torn between protecting her mentor and finding out the truth, the consequences of Kay’s enquiries will reach far beyond her new role…
FINALLY! The torture is over and I’ve met with Kay again!
≈ Now ≈ The Old You by Louise Voss
Nail-bitingly modern domestic noir
A tense, Hitchcockian psychological thriller
Louise Voss returns with her darkest, most chilling, novel yet…Lynn Naismith gave up the job she loved when she married Ed, the love of her life, but it was worth it for the happy years they enjoyed together. Now, ten years on, Ed has been diagnosed with early-onset dementia, and things start to happen; things more sinister than missing keys and lost words. As some memories are forgotten, others, long buried, begin to surface… and Lynn’s perfect world begins to crumble.
But is it Ed s mind playing tricks, or hers…?
This cover is mesmerizing!
∨ Next ∨ The Vanishing Season by Joanna Schaffhausen
Ellery Hathaway knows a thing or two about serial killers, but not through her police training. She’s an officer in sleepy Woodbury, MA, where a bicycle theft still makes the newspapers. No one there knows she was once victim number seventeen in the grisly story of serial killer Francis Michael Coben. The only victim who lived.
When three people disappear from her town in three years, all around her birthday—the day she was kidnapped so long ago—Ellery fears someone knows her secret. Someone very dangerous. Her superiors dismiss her concerns, but Ellery knows the vanishing season is coming and anyone could be next. She contacts the one man she knows will believe her: the FBI agent who saved her from a killer’s closet all those years ago.
Agent Reed Markham made his name and fame on the back of the Coben case, but his fortunes have since turned. His marriage is in shambles, his bosses think he’s washed up, and worst of all, he blew a major investigation. When Ellery calls him, he can’t help but wonder: sure, he rescued her, but was she ever truly saved? His greatest triumph is Ellery’s waking nightmare, and now both of them are about to be sucked into the past, back to the case that made them…with a killer who can’t let go.
You can’t go wrong with a red cover!

I like your list! Well I’m normally not very fond of the color red but she nails it here (haha!). I just finished The Fear by C.L. Taylor, my first novel by her, and I loved it! I’m still debating what to read next, I’ve got so many I have to read 🙂

Mouhaha, how come you don’t like red?? :p My review of The Fear will be this Saturday’s lazy one. I’m afraid I’m on the unpopular side with this one! I know, it’s terrible to choose what to read next. I can stay hours in front of my babies! Happy reading to you!

I don’t know why but I’ll never go for red if I can help it.. my fav redhead friend is the only exception. Oh my well then I apologise already cos you could see The Fear in my fav list of the year 😉. I’ve only read two Orenda books so there’s still room 😂. I should be happy there are deadlines, it helps me to choose most of the time 😄. Happy reading to you too!

You totally make me want to pick up the Kay Hunter sequel now! I haven’t had time to do so yet because of the pile of pending ARCs, but I’m definitely doing so in the next weeks! I need to be on track before the next book is published haha. 😉 I love a red cover as well (although nothing beats blue for me). Have a wonderful week! ❤ xx
