Fans of Jenny Oliver, Cathy Bramley and Debbie Johnson will love this hilarious and heart-warming romantic comedy! A storm is brewing on the stunning Cornish coast – but will sunshine follow the rain?
When Annie Trebarwith unexpectedly inherits Tregavara House, her much-loved family home atop the cliffs of Salt Bay, she begins to wonder: with all the good friends and warm memories she’s made in the village, could it be her forever home?
Luckily her gorgeous Poldark-lookalike boyfriend, Josh Pasco, has exactly the same idea. High on the Cornish cliffs he gets down on one knee, and Annie has everything she’s ever dreamed of.
But when a summer storm causes catastrophic damage to the beautiful but aging house, Annie and Josh are faced with tumbling tiles and a massive repair bill – and a roof that’s leaked straight onto her wedding gown…
Can the Salt Bay community save Annie’s house and her wedding – and give Annie the happy-ever-after she’s always wanted?
It feels good to read about summer in a cold and rainy day! Annie’s Summer by the Sea is the perfect remedy to any cloud!
Annie has gone a long way since her arrival in Salt Bay. She has settled with her aunt, she has the perfect boyfriend, she is surrounded by friends. Happy life in Cornwall!
But as Annie realizes, nothing stays the same forever.
My heart broke, was torn, mended, filled with hope, crushed, gently put back in my chest, and finally found happiness.
Tell it like it is, have it out, and sort it out.
Yes, I cried. Why? You will have to read the book to find out! Liz Eeles brings new layers to a familiar place and familiar faces you are elated to get back to and she knows exactly how to bring her story to life!
It was wonderful to learn more about the secondary characters we previously met. They are the heart of Salt Bay and this series would not be the same without those endearing faces. I want to move there and shop at Jennifer’s before getting a drink at Roger’s! Humor is all around and there are so many references, from Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to Doctor Who that every detail makes you smile.
Whatever next? Doctor Who getting it on with the Daleks?
Annie has definitely changed from the young London girl she once was but she firmly and for good sets her root in this installment. I adore her for her anxious mind going crazy, her humor, and the fact she is so relatable and not Hollywood perfect! Josh absolutely is, and I wouldn’t mind finding my own yummy Josh!
This story is about how things change, for better or for worse, and how we can handle it, or not! The subject resonated with me as I often wonder about what ifs. Things being good around me make me suspicious and keep me wondering how long happy times can last.
Everything changes, from the weather and people’s mind to Alice’s health. And however I want my life in Salt Bay to stay the same forever, I know in my heart that it won’t.
Annie’s Summer by the Sea is a picture of life, a fantastic breeze of air which allows you to remember what is important and how to keep on going with a smile on your face and love in your heart.

Liz began her writing career as a journalist and press officer before deciding that she’d rather have the freedom of making things up as a novelist.
Being short-listed in the Corvus ‘Love at First Write’ competition and the Novelicious search for a new women’s fiction star gave Liz the push she needed to keep putting pen to paper …. and ‘Annie’s Holiday by the Sea’ (her first published novel) is the result.
Liz lives on the South Coast with her family and, when she’s not writing, likes to spend time walking by the sea, and trying to meditate. Her ambition is to be serene one day …. she’s still got a long way to go.

Oh wow, this sounds like an amazing read. The setting and characterization sounds perfect and I am glad to hear that the book had such an effect on you. This isn’t a genre that I usually read but its definitely I would consider when looking for something different from my usual thrillers 🙂

It’s not my go-to genre either, but I like to have a change of scenery once in a while and this made the trick! It was a great read 🙂

Salt Bay is a lovely name for the location of this book, it already makes it sound like a cosy easy read. Its nice to see a different genre and a chick lit review on Chocolatenwaffles. I like thrillers the same as you, but a good chick lit in between is great.
