Remember when I signed up for the 2017 Beat the Backlist challenge? Yep, me neither! It turns out I got swept away by ARCs and read approximately… 3 books from my TBR! So, big failure!
But as I am not one to stay on a bad note, I am trying again! And with a TBR that is even BIGGER than before, it should be doable… Right??
So, what are the rules?
The challenge will run from January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2018. You have an ENTIRE YEAR to complete your goal!
Books must be released prior to 2018 to count for this challenge. Although we love new releases too, this isn’t the challenge for them.
Sounds easy, right?
I solemnly swear to try and do my best to give love to the poor books waiting for me!
I won’t make a list because there would be around two hundred books but I’ll give you a snippet…
Let’s see how it goes! I’d be grateful if publishers wouldn’t tempt me too much with new releases :p
Are you taking part in this challenge? Any other challenges you’ve started?
YAY! I am doing this challenge as well, best of luck, we can do this! It’s hard not to let ourselves be tempted by new releases only, ahah 🙂 which team are you on, by the way? i’m team Novel Knights 😀

I’m already behind, stuck with lots of ARCS, haha, and adding more every day! But I’m not losing hope!

sounds a good challenge, what about 1 a month? that way you’ve read 12. my 2018 books are ebooks so this will be easy for me.

It always depends on my ARCs and my mood, but I will definitely go for one a month!

I love when I go to my ‘back list’ pile because you always find a surprise that you had forgotten about.
I like that you have The Death of Anyone in there. I have also read FutureSpan which was good too.
Good luck with it, though I know it will be a challenge with all the new books you will get this year too.
Happy reading Meggy.

I completely agree! I made a new list with my old books and I am so happy to re-discover titles I had been very excited about! I’m already drowning in a sea of new releases, so we’ll see how it goes! Happy reading to you! xxx

All the best! I haven’t participated in any challenges this year except Goodreads yearly challenge! I have the list of Bookriot’s Read Harder Challenge and I’ll see if i can do that this year.

Good luck with your challenge! I did the Mount TBR challenge on Goodreads last year and managed to read quite a lot of books off my TBR but I found it a struggle as the year went on and I wanted to focus on the shiny new books. I haven’t signed up yet this year but I might look at doing the Beat the Backlist Challenge instead. I need to do something to focus my mind on reading my TBR! Haha!

“The Mine” is also on my backlist – wether or not I get to it this year is a different matter! 🙂

Oh I hope you manage to get through all the books on your Beat the Backlist challenge Meggy! 🙂 I’ve heard good things about Behind Closed Doors from so many of the people I work with who’ve read it so I’m sure you’ll love that one as well.
I really feel like one year I should join this challenge because there are so so so many books I still need to get around to! 😀

Lovely titles, several of these covers/titles I’ve seen before too! Behind Closed Doors is on my readlist as well. I’m actually joining but not joining the backlist. I haven’t actually signed up for this but I do plan on reading more of my own titles and I started off really good because I already have read 2 and am reading nr. 3 right now. Happy reading Waffles!

I am sort of doing this one too because I want to reduce the number of ARCs that I read and focus more on my TBR this year. I have over a hundred books just collecting dust on my shelf 🙂 I really enjoyed Behind Closed Doors and I Found You. I hope that you will too. Enjoy all your books. Happy reading 🙂

Hey Meggy,
this sounds interesting.. As the year just started I am kind of rouding up list of challenges I will be doing in 2018..
Can you please give me a brief of what BackList Challenge is ?
As far as I am understanding, its reading the older books we already have on our TBR ? Is it ?
Thanks in advance and All the best for your Backlist Challenge 2018
