I was quite silent this week. I won’t bother you with whys and hows, because today is all about Tags!
I was tagged by the lovely Jessica @ The Awkward Book Blogger to do the All The Series Ever Tag created by Fadwa over at Word Wonders. I did not really care whether or not books belonged to a series when I started blogging, but in the past months, I have slowly begun building a nice list!
READ
The Maze Runner, James Dashner
Overall rating: 3,5
Brilliant 1st installment but very disappointing ending
Harry Potter (in French) J.K Rowling
Overall rating: 5/5 Of course
The Kay Scarpetta Series, Patricia Cornwell
Overall 3/5
I actually stopped reading this series after Red Mist. I did not like the way things turned out. I do miss Scarpetta sometimes, though.
READING
Passenger, Alexandra Bracken
Overall rating: 3/5
I’m looking forward to the next book.
The Raven Cycle, Maggie Stiefvater
Overall rating: 3,5/5 so far.
The first book was a hit, the second book was a flop. What will be the fate of the last two books? *mysterious music*
The Stephanie Plum Series, Janet Evanovich
Overall rating: 4/5 Books read up to 16.
I am going slow with this one. I don’t ever want to catch up and find myself suffering from the wait before the next book is released *horror music, agonizing screams*
I only pick Stephanie when cheering up is needed. Careful though, it gets a little repetitive after book 12.
Throne of Glass, Sarah J. Maas
Overall rating: 3/5
I soon will be reading Queen of Shadows. I can’t wait to snark again and get annoyed by Celaena. But I am still mad the author killed my favorite character.
The Cormoran Strike Series, Robert Galbraith
Overall rating: 3,5/5. I haven’t read The Silkworm yet because its sheer size scares me. I don’t believe I have the patience to tackle it for now.
The Jack Parlabane Series, Chris Brookmyre
Overall rating: 5/5
Okay, the rating does not mean anything here because I have only read Black Widow, the seventh book in the series. I am planning on buying and reading the 6 books that came before in early 2017, starting with One Quite Ugly Morning which is already sitting on my shelf!
TO BE READ
These are only a few of the series I have added to my list. I’m surprised to only count two crime stories in it. This is not good!
TO BE TAGGED
Well, everyone includes series to their TBR, so I am tagging all of you!
Which series should I absolutely read? What is your favorite crime series?
As usual, I take all recommendations! There are a lot of hyped-up books in there, can you help me find more diverse series?
I was super disappointed by the ending of The Maze Runner series too. SIGH. I really hope you enjoy the next two books in TRC!! And I hope you love Illuminae when you get to it ♥ I really need to read Throne of Glass but I am suuuuper intimidated, haha.
LikeLike
I was so mad at the book when I reached the end of TMR! I don’t understand the choices made by the author… Haha, personally I think you don’t miss much with Throne of Glass. It is entertaining but there’s nothing exceptional! (And I really hate the main character xD)

You should definitely read Six of Crows and Illuminae. They won’t disappoint! 😀

Thank you! 😀 I’ve heard so much about them!

AAAH !! I have the same editions of Harry Potter as you, well I only have “L’école des sorciers” and “Les reliques de la mort” and they’re sooo old and beat up from when I was a kid but I don’t care and I’m still displaying them 😂😂
Other than thar I didn’t know about a lot of series in your list 🙊 I’m a bad bad bookworm !
LikeLike
REALLY??? I love those cute covers!! I prefer this edition to the hardback one. Same for mine, their age shows, haha but I love them to pieces and will continue to display them proudly on my bookcase!
No you’re not! 😀 That only means you have even more books to add to your list if you want to!

Yeees !! I’ve never seen the french hardbacks, they actually don’t sell hardbacks in Morocco, of any books.
Aah I will once I open your post on my laptop 😄

No hardbacks?? Well, I don’t really buy them but I love looking at them!

I would suggest the Kim Stone series by Angela Marsons, it’s an absolute cracker and everyone I’ve recommended these to have loved them. My favourite series of all time is Peter James Roy Grace books but this is now up to number twelve so more of a commitment.
LikeLike
Thank you, Cleo! Angela Marsons’ books are on my radar, but everyone has been talking about it, it got me a little intimidated to start! I will check your other recommendation, I love series with enough books to avoid the torture of waiting for the next! 🙂

But I AM interested in the whys and hows! If you ever need to talk or rant or anything, you know I’m there ❤
I'm glad to hear you enjoyed Passenger, it's a very hyped book and that's the reason why I haven't read it yet. Though I might read it someday, I'm too curious not to.
And Illuminae on your TBR? ME TOOO AHHH. That book is so beautiful, I hope it's as good as everyone seems to think 🙂 And Anna and the French Kiss, yaay that book is so cute ❤
LikeLike
❤ it is so comforting to know that ❤ I'm just extremely tired, which means I have no energy to write reviews and I forget what I read super fast, that doesn't help! Now I'm frustrated because I will have to write reviews of a lower quality and I don't want to…
Many people did not enjoy Passenger, but to my surprise, I really liked it. That's too bad the French Amazon doesn't allow me to lend it to you!
I was told Illuminae works perfectly as an audiobook! But it's too expensive for me to try right now. Everyone talks about Anna, I thought it'd be fun to try it 🙂

Oh no, I get the feeling 😦 Well you don’t have to write reviews that don’t inspire you, or if you don’t feel it. You can always write other blog posts and take a bit of a break with reviews, until you find your way with these again? 🙂
LikeLike
Well, the thing is those reviews are for ARCs, I took the engagement, so I need to get them done. I’ll post a little something about this today or tomorrow. News say that my brain is not working properly so I need to slow down the reading and prepare myself to struggle more with reviews 😦 I probably won’t be able to do the books justice for some time –‘ I hope authors and fellow bloggers will forgive me those less-good reviews!
LikeLiked by 1 person
OH, I get it, that’s kind of annoying, and kind of why I’m not really that much requesting ARCs or anything, ahah. I get the struggle, but maybe you can try and write your reviews differently, maybe it’ll sparkle up a bit of inspiration? Like, your likes and dislikes about it, a bullet list, or, I don’t know?
Don’t worry about it, it happens to anyone at some point, no one will be mad at you, you are way too awesome for that! ❤ ❤

Haha, you are so right! I have put a stop to ARCs on my blog and I refuse to click on NetGalley ever again! I will try different formats, I like playing with them, but I have trouble remembering names and plots 😂 I will now look like an elderly when I read, with a notebook filled with every little detail!! Anyway, thanks for listening (reading? xD) and your support ❤ I'm a bit upset about this, so it means a lot!

I have Red Rising, Young Elites and Miss Peregrine’s to read soon! Whenever my TBR allows 🙂 I love the anticipation of reading a series but it’s always bittersweet when it ends. Also I hope you like Blue Lily, Blue Lily, it focuses more on Blue and Gansey (I loved Gansey ❤️). Great post, Donna!

Same for me, that TBR is too big to allow me to read everything soon! Series are tricky! I expect so much from Blue Lily Lily Blue!! I really hope I won’t be disappointed this time. Thank you! 🙂

I still have not started on the Stephanie Plum series but I have two books I think. I guess it’s best to start at number one though? I did not like the second book of Robert Galbraith/Rowling and I have the third but I’ve pushed it way down my list because of it. I don’t want to put you off and I really hope you like it way better. I had a thing with the characters, there was not a nice character in sight and that grated on me. On a more positive note.. so you’re caving in to reading The Deal too. Good on you. You do realize if you like those first books you’ll have to follow them up so that will be a lot of reading in the future for you ;-).

It’s definitely good to start at the beginning with Stephanie. Even though every book sums up her life and her family and friends, the first is awesome 😀 For The Silkworm, I heard we see more of Robin in the second book, I am looking forward to it. I know, I’m getting into something big with The Deal. Live dangerously, they say… !

I hope to start The Raven Cycle soon, and hopefully the third and fourth books won’t disappoint you! I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Six of Crows; I only finished the novel a few days ago, and it’s amazing. I just love how different it is from typical YA fantasies, and I hope you will too. Happy reading! 🙂

Haha, I can’t add any books to my TBR so it has to stay on the wishlist until 2017!! Plum is so fun, I love her, and her ability to attract the weirdest situations!

This is a great tag, I love how you included Harry Potter it’s an all-time favourite of mine as well. 🙂 And I agree with you on the ending to The Maze Runner as well, really disappointing!
I hope you enjoy the rest of The Raven Cycle series, especially after being disappointed by the second book, and I can’t wait for the second Passenger book either. I have high hopes for it!
Also some of the books on your to-read list are favourites of mine, I really really hope you love them and I can’t wait to see your reviews.
Great picks for this tag Donna! 😀

I just have to add Harry Potter everywhere 🙂 It’s a reflex! I am sure I have put it in almost every tag, haha. I don’t want to watch the second movie of The Maze Runner series because 1) I will scream at the liberties taken with the story 2) I don’t want to see that ending on TV!! I am glad you liked Passenger too, it had a lot of mixed reviews, but I really enjoyed it.
Thank you! 🙂

I feel like I have series like that too, Harry Potter is normally one of them! 🙂
Oh I saw The Scorch Trials and yeah, there were a lot of libertines taken. It’s pretty much a completely different story when it comes down to it! And god I can’t imagine that ending on the big screen either.
Yeah I saw the mixed reviews as well but when it comes down to it it’s still one of my favourite reads of this year, I’m glad you enjoyed it as well!
That’s all right. 🙂

“there were a lot of libertines taken” 😂 You should have been put in spamjail for that!! 😂 Your comment made me laugh so hard, thank you, I needed it! Imagine The Scorch Trials with libertines!

That would be the auto-correct on my phone. 😂 Though would libertines have made the book better or worse, that’s the real questions here! 😀

Hahahahaha, I like your thinking. Maybe it would have brought the spicing up the author tried to get with those deaths!

It certainly would have changed the direction of the series wouldn’t it, and hell if it made the deaths unnecessary then I would have probably enjoyed it as well! XD

I have never read or considered to read a book by Janet Evanovich but things have changed in the past couple of minutes….I might not ever make it to book #12, but if it’s your cheer up material, I NEED it as well! 😀 So you’re continuing to get annoyed about Celaena huh? XD I still need to buy the second book for my husband *holds in hysterical laughter*

Yes you need it! I am pretty sure sausages are involved in many pages :p Oh my, don’t get me started with Celaena! I am reading for every other character, haha! I still can’t believe your husband liked it!

I loved the two books by Robert Bryndza. Its a great series so far. I have also heard good things about Karin Slaughter although I have only read the 7th book on the series. I can’t wait to read the rest of the books in the series that has Black Widow. Awesome tag!

Six of Crows is amazing. I’m reading Crooked Kingdom at the moment and am madly in love with it.
I’ll be reading The Raven Boys next (wait… This feels like a WWW Wednesday post now!), but I’m cautious. I’ve heard such good things about the first one, and such disappointed ones for the second one!
