You’ve Got Mail! #SFATW

In case you missed the news of the brilliant project launched a few months ago by our very own French ray of sunshine, Marie @ Drizzle And Hurricane, here is what Souvenir From Across The World is about.

Souvenirs From Across The World is an original idea created for all book bloggers from all around the world, but is not limited to it. If it’s mainly created for book bloggers because of a possibility to get books as a gift, every blogger can participate.

This feature was created to get to know each other a bit better, especially where we are all from, share a bit of our countries, cities, cultures, traditions, writers, authors. The main goal of Souvenirs From Across The World is to create a link between all bloggers, from everywhere, and to share a bit of the diversity that makes everyone unique on the blogosphere.

Finding the idea awesome, there was no way I was going to miss the opportunity to be a Santa in July! I was matched with the amazing Beth @ Reading Every Night from one of the countries I really want to visit (and invade), England!

I had lots of fun buying all kinds of things for Beth, hoping she found the task as exciting as I did and that she would not be disappointed in my choices!

France is known for its strikes and very slow post, so there was some delay from my side, therefore I tortured myself decided to wait until my gifts bag arrived to her place before opening the one sitting on my desk.

And suddenly it was Christmas in my living room, in July, in the middle of the day.

Iris could not take her eyes off of the Queen. I tried to tell her it was rude, but she was in awe.

Beth did a great job, I love everything in that package. Once I was done waffle-dancing because it all came from England (a package! For me! From England!!), I dived in and put everything on display in the apartment! I love the bag, I’ve been using it since, my poor mustard girlie bag is sulking in my room, he probably hates London now that he’s been replaced by a trendy English tote. I also love the book she chose. The tagline just grabs your attention, I’m hooked, I wanna read it! (don’t take it personally, dear other books on my TBR, I love you, too.)

The candy did not last long, of course… I’m glad we both decided to send sweets, because a Christmas package is not complete without sugar!

A reading notebook… Guys, I did not know it existed! I’ve been using a simple notebook, but this one is made for readers. Made For Readers.

But. The most amazing thing. A LONDON BRIDGE to put together! I’m terrible at that kind of things but it will look so good on my bookcase!!

I want to thank Beth once again for putting together an outstanding SFATW package and for putting so much effort into it. Also, thank you to Marie for making this happen. You two won a hundred hugs and as many waffles as you want! πŸ˜€

If you’ve been around for some time, you already know I don’t like Christmas. I hate the season, the songs, the gifts shopping. But this time it was different. I did not know Beth personally, I was not freezing my bottom to reach the right shops, and I was not forced to pay too much for an ugly present that the person would not like anyway. I took my time, I got nervous about finding THE perfect items. I rediscovered how fun it was to organize a surprise for someone. I loved every minute of the adventure!

So as you can see, I was, and I still am, overly excited about Souvenirs From Across The World. I am delighted to let you know that it’s not too late to be a part of it! Marie has decided to make it a regular feature on her blog, with monthly posts and a new round of Blogger Christmas! Head over to this post to know more about what’s next!

Did you take part in #SFATW? Do you want to?

    1. Thank you!! πŸ™‚ Beth is amazing and she sent me the best package! That London Bridge is awesome, I don’t even want to take it out of the package haha!

  1. AHHHH this post is absolutely GORGEOUS and perfect! I think I’m in love with EVERYTHING in that package, seriously. And I laughed about your comment on the French postage because erm, yes, they suck haha. This was so, so generous of Beth, and A READING NOTEBOOK? I NEED one right now, where can I find one?!
I am so, so happy you enjoyed contributing to SFATW, this makes me so, so, SO happy! Thank you for all of your support and love, Donna, you are THE BEST ❀
And If Beth reads this THANK YOU, your gifts are absolutely INCREDIBLE ❀

Oh my, I had so many issues with posting mine, it was crazy. I hate the French postage service! The employee lied to me and I had to pay extra stuff, I was going bonkers!
I had no idea reading notebooks existed, it’s so cute inside, you can add the title, rating, and notes about your read, it’s little so it fits in any bag, I’m in love. But I have no idea where to get one!
Thank YOU for that crazy and brilliant idea ❀

        1. I’m from the US and I’m awesome. Duh! And don’t you watch mostly all American TV shows and eat at American places like McDonalds or get pizza from oh another American place like Domino’s? You have a secret love of all things American, including me. πŸ˜‚ Haha! 😝 Most of the awesome things you like come from the US and they migrate over to there. Duh, silly boy!

                1. Jill alone is enough to make us LOVE the US. I love McDonalds, I’m still hoping to gain eight thanks to my Big Macs but it never happens 😦 and we love our Marshie. All is well, and France is on strike again!

  2. This is such a cool idea! You got a great package, wouldn’t mind getting it myself πŸ˜‰ I love love England so I absolutely get why you were so excited to get package from there 😊

  3. That all looks so great !! I would love to get a package like that too! So far I haven’t participated in one of these exchanges simply because I’m so afraid I won’t know what to buy or which book to choose for someone. I have seen the notebook here though so that would be at least one item I now know which would probably be appreciated. I’ve seen a message on FB to send one book to someone and get 6 in return also but I think it’s one of these scams, right?

    1. Yeah, I hesitated a bit before signing up because I was afraid my package would not be good enough, but it’s not that hard if you have fun and think of things you’d like to get πŸ™‚
I’ve seen those messages. It’s way too complicated, you get six books only if you get enough people to participate after you. I was interested in doing it with some of my university lecturers, but I gave up.

    1. Oh, Vegas! How cool πŸ™‚ I’m glad you want to participate, the more the merrier πŸ˜€
Those postcards are now up on my wall, I love them. My dog keeps staring at the Queen, haha!

  4. You lucked out by getting Beth. πŸ™‚ She’s so awesome. I’m not surprised she sent you all of these wonderful things. Your baby dog loves the Queen. How cute. πŸ˜‚ Come to England when I visit and we’ll all go see the Queen together. And do all touristy things. Then I’m coming over for waffles. πŸ™‚ Do you want a package from America? I will send you one with lots of love, hugs, and fun things in it. πŸ™‚ Just let me know what snacks and candies you want. I already offered this to grandpa. πŸ˜‚I signed up for Fairy Loot next month just so I can get a box with an England postmark on it. How sad? Lol πŸ˜‚

    1. I know, she spoiled me πŸ˜€
You know what? If I’m better by spring next year, I’m coming with you!! I want to be a silly and annoying tourist. Let’s talk about vagina drawings to the English guards to make them laugh!
A package from America? Are you my Santa?? πŸ˜€ I don’t even know what snacks you have, except for the ones we get here too. You would not believe the amount of peanuts butter I can eat xD
Hahaha, I totally get the idea. I kept the box because of the English stamp on it πŸ˜‚

        1. Oh yes, my not so secret Santa! You don’t have to put on the outfit, don’t worry xD Nutella is a key item in my food groups. Every morning, whether on bread, waffles or with croissants!

          1. Ah, okay so that’s like a worldwide staple I guess. I had to send it to my friend in care packs when she was stationed in Afghanistan. She likes it on waffles too. Do you ever make stuffed waffles with Nutella? She loves that. πŸ™‚

            1. Nope, I like my waffles to be virgin, haha! I could not find it in Japan, or only small jars that were way too expensive. I’m sure it’s part of why I never got used to live there!

  5. Ahh I’m so glad you loved your package Donna. I loved seeing all the photos and I have to admit I am definitely surprised everything made it over there OK, it doesn’t even look like the rock I sent broke and I thought it would in transit, you never know with the post system going from one country to the other do you.
Either way I can’t believe you managed to have your package in your home without opening it until I had mine (don’t get me wrong it was a really nice gesture) but as soon as I got home and grabbed mine I pretty much tore it open to get to everything inside! πŸ˜€
I’ll be posting pics of mine with my book haul tomorrow so everyone will be able to see what you got me as well! Thank you again for all the gifts you got me, and the book as well I can’t wait to start it! And I definitely had so much fun buying everything for you as well! πŸ˜€

    1. Everything was in perfect shape, a true miracle, haha! I had a hat delivered to me from the USA a few weeks ago with a clear footprint on the package, my poor hat had suffered…
I have no idea how I managed to resist to the temptation and not rip it open! I’m kinda proud of myself πŸ˜€
I’m happy you liked my choices, I was a tad bit worried πŸ™‚ It was a fun event!

      Liked by 1 person

      1. Definitely a miracle! I was worried I should have bubble wrapped everything to get it to you in one piece! And jesus that’s terrible about your hat. I’ve heard horror stories from people I work with about packages they’ve had thrown over the fence and into their porch, breaking everything inside!
You should be proud of yourself for that, waiting for the package was hard it would have been harder if it had arrived and I didn’t open it until you had yours!
No need to be worried I loved everything, and yeah I had a lot of fun with this as well! πŸ˜€

  6. I’m feeling so much love here (no sarcasm this time) :D. It’s a fabulous idea! Last year, I participated in a Goodreads group secret Santa exchange with a girl from France, and while I went out of my way to get her nice presents, I never received anything from her. Ever. And she blocked me on Goodreads after she had received hers -_-. Buuuut, because I have more trust in our lovely bloggers, I’m gonna hop over and sign up for it! :3 I’ve got the reading notebook as well btw, it’s absolutely fabulous! Oh, and I first thought Beth had sent you a black wig when I looked at the first picture, but then noticed there was a fluffy white body attached to it :’).

    1. Haha, thanks for the reassurance, I was scared for a second!
That’s low. If you sign up for something, you go all the way, or at least you talk to the person you’re matched with if there’s a problem. I hate people who think it’s okay to take advantage of events like this one.
I’m sure it’ll go way better with SFATW!
Hahaha, nah, it was just the dog hoping her glory day on the blog!

      1. I was tempted to send her one of my cat’s turds in the mail afterwards (okay, so I still am xD) but I need to stay Zen about this (my dog’s turds are way bigger).
        πŸ˜€ Well, she sure had!
