This Week In Books is a great meme hosted by Lipsyy Lost & Found where you sum-up what you’ve been reading during the week.
∧ Then ∧ The Cuckoo’s Calling, Robert Galbraith
I had a really nice time reading it. I was relieved to see it was very different from The Casual Vacancy (still have to finish this one).
Blurb:
When a troubled model falls to her death from a snow-covered Mayfair balcony, it is assumed that she has committed suicide. However, her brother has his doubts, and calls in private investigator Cormoran Strike to look into the case. A war veteran, wounded both physically and psychologically, Strike’s life is in disarray. The case gives him a financial lifeline, but it comes at a personal cost: the more he delves into the young model’s complex world, the darker things get – and the closer he gets to terrible danger . . .
≈ Now ≈ Lost Memory of Skin, Russel Banks
The title caught my eyes. I was surprised when I read the blurb, though! I wasn’t expecting the book to tell the story of a sex offender. It should be an interesting read.
Blurb:
After doing time for a liaison with an underage girl, the Kid is forbidden to live within 2,500 feet of anywhere children might gather. Barely beyond childhood himself, the Kid is in many ways an innocent, trapped by impulses and choices he struggles to comprehend. Enter the Professor, a man who has built his own life on secrets and lies. The two men forge a tentative partnership, but when the Professor’s past resurfaces, the balance in the two men’s relationship shifts. Suddenly, the Kid must reconsider all he has come to believe, and make a fateful choice when faced with a new kind of moral decision.
∨ Next ∨ Me Before You, Jojo Moyes
The instagram reading group @thereadingrebels has chosen this novel as their book of the month. I was planning on reading it so I joined. Better read it before the movie gets released.
Blurb:
Lou Clark knows lots of things. She knows how many footsteps there are between the bus stop and home. She knows she likes working in The Buttered Bun tea shop and she knows she might not love her boyfriend Patrick.
What Lou doesn’t know is she’s about to lose her job or that knowing what’s coming is what keeps her sane.
Will Traynor knows his motorcycle accident took away his desire to live. He knows everything feels very small and rather joyless now and he knows exactly how he’s going to put a stop to that.
What Will doesn’t know is that Lou is about to burst into his world in a riot of colour. And neither of them knows they’re going to change the other for all time.
Have you read any of those books? What’s next on your reading list?
I wish you a good bookish week!
Lost Memory of Skin seems interesting, maybe I’ll read it!
Have a nice day 🙂

I’m glad you enjoyed The Cuckoo’s Calling. I thought it was good (particularly Robin. I’ve read book 2 and I want to read book 3 just to see what happens to Robin!), but could have been 100 pages shorter 🙂
I hope you like Me Before You. I thought it was good, but not as marvellous as some readers make out. From the trailer, it looks like they’ve done a very good job adapting it for film.
Thanks for visiting my WWW post (https://clairehuston.wordpress.com/2016/03/02/www-wednesday-2nd-march-2016/) and happy reading!

Glad you enjoyed The Cuckoo’s Calling; this one is still on my Kindle to be read. The Casual Vacancy is such a slog though isn’t it? I liked it, particularly the ending but it is just a door stop of social commentary.

Lost Memory of Skin sounds like an interesting read, I might look out for that one. I still haven’t got around to reading The Cuckoo’s Calling but it’s on my TBR mountain and I’m now very keen to bump it up so I can read it soon. Me Before You is such a good read but keep your tissues handy, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I definitely want to read ‘Me Before You” also! It’s been sitting on my shelf for a while now.
My favorite read this week was ‘Denial of Conscience’ by Cat Gardiner.

I loved Me Before You and that’s quite something as I rarely read this type of book – Jojo Moyes is an amazing writer. But.. I’m really interested to hear what you make of Lost Memory of Skin which sounds unusual and quite deep! Have a great reading week 🙂

I think the only reason I haven’t picked up any Robert Galbraith novels is I’m afraid they’ll suck and tarnish my image of JK Rowlings writing. LOL. My Week in Books.

I totally get it, I was disappointed in The Casual Vacancy so I kept putting The Cuckoo’s Calling off, but now I’m happy I took the plunge!

To avoid having to much information or my expectations heightened, I’ve been staying away from the trailer and reviews, all I know is that people seem to love it. I really hope I’ll have a great time with it

Good idea, I know I’m going to enjoy it as my Uncle was the Production Designer for the film, so I know when I see the way they’ve decorated the interiors and placed all the props etc I’m going to recognise his fabulous, colourful style! It’s often a bit distracting, looking at the decor and trying to concentrate on the film at the same time. 🙂

That’s exciting 🙂 Some movies just have that special touch and you end up focusing on all the beautiful settings and the particular styles, but it’s worth it
